Announcing! The Eos Promising Scholar award for 2022: Rebecca de Broglio

Lezlie Kinyon, Ph.D. Editor, Coreopsis Journal

We are happy to announce the winner of The Eos Promising Scholar award for 2022 is Rebecca de Broglio. Author of “Becoming Antiracist”  in Autumn 2020 Vol. 8 # 2 (http://societyforritualarts.com/coreopsis/autumn-2020-issue/becoming-antiracist/), Rebecca may be the youngest scholar we have published. Their essay impressed our editors with its maturity and insightfulness.

Rebecca de Broglio was an eighth grader at the Northwest School in Seattle when they answered the call for papers from youth during 2020. They had been published in numerous newspapers, including The New York Times, The Seattle Times, and The Mercer Island Reporter as well as two separate poetry books. Rebecca is also a part of the Sunrise Movement at their high school, and has led and participated in multiple protests from climate change and the Black Lives Matter movement. Rebecca has also played multiple lead roles at Youth Theatre Northwest, as well as a lead role in a student short film, “Welcome Home.”

We look forward to more work from Rebecca and hope to host a gathering in late summer to present this award to them in person.
