We are navigating new territory here at “Coreopsis Central”: welcoming people and some technology we haven’t used before. We’ve redesigned the webpages, added navigation tools for our Gift Shop The Mercantile, the archives, and <drum roll please!> introducing a brand new publication, Roses & Wildflowers. Envisioned as a home for mythopoetics in all of its myriad forms, the first issue is now live: HERE
Coreopsis Journal will continue publishing research, essays, reviews and profiled artists.
The “sister” journals will share some editorial thematics, but will thrive as independent publications.
Please enjoy!
Submissions are open for Autumn 2024, please check out the calls for both journals. Coreopsis will explore “Walking the Other Path” accepting research and essays on the women trailblazers in speculative fiction and exploring the diverse topic these women tackled: from social critiques and anarchism to post apocalyptic dystopias and telepathic dragons.
Roses & Wildflowers will explore “Walking Away”. What is beyond LeGuin’s “Omelas”? When does one “walk away” as right action? What is to be found or lost, what is left behind? Can one ever return? Poetry, short tales, and art exploring this theme are all accepted. Reading will commence in March. (Ready to submit? Go here: https://forms.gle/heY4qMKT4piuu59QA )
Each issue will also explore story makers in other media as well, this issue features a musical offering by Nympya, musician, artist and writer. Please contact us with your ideas for audio: music, stories, a poetry performance produced in audio format at [email protected]
This Year, in November, the editors will, once again, host the Quill, Pen and Brush Writers & Artists Retreat in Yachats OR. Early registration is open, please go here: https://societyforritualarts.com/mercantile/product/fabulist-writers-artists-retreat/
And… check out our Gift Shop while you are there! We will be adding items over the net year. Your purchase will make a difference in what we do.
… and, we look forward to hearing from you!
