I’ve always loved the concept of women in tandem with powerful beasts. There’s something fascinating about a graceful feminine character controlling a massively destructive force. I guess it’s a symbol of feminine power way beyond her perceived limits.
I started this piece only with two magical snakes at her side, but the concept soon grew into what you see as the final. I am a proponent of the idea that a painting always tells an artist how it wants to develop. So soon enough this painting grew into a lot of scaly friends around her as well as one massive python who will not let anyone mess with its lady or their territory.
