Coreopsis’ Author Nicholas Alexander Brown to Give Lecture on Irving Fine’s Orchestral Music and Sharon Knight to Appear at Faerieworlds
Nicholas Alexander Brown, who appeared in the summer 2013 issue of Coreopsis, and is music director & founder of The Irving Fine Society, will gave a pre-concert lecture at 7:00 pm for The Fine Family and The Irving Fine Society, Brandeis University, and Boston Modern Orchestra Project presentation of “A Fine Centennial” on May 16, 2014 at Jordan Hall in Boston (8:00 pm). This concert was the largest celebration of Irving Fine’s orchestral music during the centennial, featuring Symphony (1962), Blue Towers, and Diversions for Orchestra. Also on the program were works by Fine’s friends and colleagues Harold Shapero and Arthur Berger.

Sharon Knight will take the Main Stage at Faerieworlds Music Festival
Musician Sharon Knight, who appeared in the Fall/Winter 2013/14 Coreopsis will appear at Faerieworlds Music festival in Eugene, Or. July 25th-27, 2014. Sharon Knight of the gothic tribal rock band Pandemonaeon will be returning to the Faerieworlds main stage this Summer. Based in San Francisco, Sharon’s musical foundations are solidly based in her Celtic heritage from which she has evolved her uniquely rich and powerful personal style. Denise Dumars, who has been a part of Coreopsis’ staff almost since its inception, will be writing a poetry column for Star*Line, the the official newsletter and network instrument of the Science Fiction Poetry Association at http://www.sfpoetry.com/starline.html: “My latest column, Stealth SF: Finding Speculative Poetry in Non-Genre Magazines, will be in the next issue of Star*Line. The column appears in each issue with a different theme each time. The title of this issue’s column is a line from a poem: ‘Silver Purple Legs of Kale.’ “
Pagan Elder, Morning Glory Zell-Ravenheart
We are saddened to receive the news that Pagan Elder, Morning Glory Zell-Ravenheart has reached to final days and is at her home receiving hospice care. She is surrounded by those she loves as she prepares for her journey into the Summerland. (May 9, 2014) As the process of working on this journal commenced, Morning Glory slipped into a coma and passed peacefully. Many of her friends have planted morning glory seeds in our gardens and in barren places where flowers are needed in tribute to her memory. The editors have announces a special tribute issue which will be available free: Green Egg June 2014: ISSUE No. 16 .
