The symbology of tarot and alchemical traditions have been inspirational to poets, novelists, artists, performers and composers from classical works such as “The Magic Flute” to popular works from classic rock to hip hop.
The symbology of tarot and alchemy is steeped in esoterica and mythology dating back into history to the “fortune telling decks” used in Italy in the 14th century, to the Paris salons of the 18th century, and includes Russian folklore, Romany lore, Talmudic and biblical lore and the mysticism of the 19th century theosophical societies.
This issue of Coreopsis Journal seeks serious explorations of the rich history and mythos from these traditions from all perspectives, esoterica, poetics, mythopoeia and mythical fiction. Uses in the visual arts, music and the performing arts, analyses drawn from literature and poetry.
